Berks County Solid Waste Authority & the Berks County Commissioners
will be sponsoring a Household Hazardous Waste Collection
for all Berks County residents on Saturday,
October 13, 2007
at the Reading Municipal Stadium.
Household Hazardous Waste is any household product which is labeled:
CAUTION - DANGER - FLAMMABLE - EXPLOSIVE - TOXIC WARNING - CORROSIVE - EXPLOSIVE - POISON - VOLATILE
or a combination of these characteristics. Look for warning or skull and crossbones on label. Use this list to identify and collect hazardous products which are no longer usable or wanted.

Riparian Forest Buffer Program
Water Research Center, in conjunction with the Natural Resources
Conservation Service (NRCS), is working to improve the health of streams
in Berks and Lebanon counties. A new Riparian Buffer Program
provides free technical assistance as well as cost share for purchasing
plants and trees. Funding is also available for fencing to exclude
livestock, stream crossings and streambank restoration.
