Geographic Information
System Services |
| The Geographic Information System, also known as GIS,
is a powerful system which allows the Engineering Services Department
to: |
- Research parcel identification numbers, acreage, boundaries, location
of property
- Show properties petitioning to be included and showing the soil
types and prime farmland classification.
- Verify area, use, and location of existing rights-of-way on property
being contemplated for purchase.
- Locate properties noted in field to receive curb notices prior
to annual paving.
- Create maps showing existing sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and
water lines.
- Create maps showing distances of laterals from known manholes
to locate lateral stubs for new connections and to locate running
trap for sewer clogs.
- Prepare maps indicating soil types and flood plains.
- Create aerial photography
for owners to locate systems near their property.
- Show aerial view of property; determine properties within given
distance of property to receive notice of hearings.
- Create contour maps.
