Township of Spring 2008 Recycling & Trash Schedule
Collection during
Holidays has changed. Please refer to the attached Trash and Recycling
Schedule for these changes.
A total of FOUR CONTAINERS (bags or cans) may be placed for the weekly
collection. Each container shall not exceed 32-gallon capacity nor weigh more
than 40 lbs. All loose items must be bundled not to exceed 18 inches by 18 inches
by 36 inches.
In addition, ONE BULK ITEM may be placed at the curb for collection each
trash collection day. There will be NO SPRING AND FALL CLEAN UP. Each trash
collection day you will be allowed one bulk item, i.e. mattress, furniture, television etc or
one additional trash container. The following items will not be picked up as a bulk
item: NO APPLIANCES – refrigerators, microwaves, stoves, heaters, dehumidifiers,
air-conditioners, hot water heaters, propane tanks, batteries, automobile
motors, transmissions, nor tires, etc. Paint cans may not contain paint in liquid
form. Lawn mowers may NOT have fluids in them.
REMINDER: NO SPRING AND FALL CLEAN UP.

Wood or branches
need to be tied in lengths less than 4 feet. Remember only one
man will be lifting this item, so don't make them too heavy.

| Recycling
Collection |
The Township
of Spring is mandated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to conduct
a recycling program. The Township of Spring provides the first container
to each household. However, if your container is lost or destroyed
another container can be purchased at the Township Business Office
at a cost of $10. Collection of recycling is scheduled on an every-other
week basis, according to the
2008 Trash/Recycling Schedule. |
Items To Be
Recycled:

- Glass: Clear, green, brown
- Steel and Aluminum Cans
- Plastic: Plastic in a bottled form, i.e. water, milk, soda,
laundry and cleaning products with a 1 or 2 inside of the recycling
logo triangle.
- Newspaper, Magazines, Catalogs, Junk Mail - Place these items
in a brown paper bag.
- Cardboard: Must be bundled in lengths less than 18 in. x 18
in. x 24 in.

Billing for
recycling occurs annually in March, at a rate of $40.00 per household billed on March Real Estate Taxes. |
Holidays are
as follows: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence
Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
In those weeks with a Holiday, collection of trash and recyclables will take place ONE DAY LATER THAN USUAL beginning on the holiday through the remainder of the week. All collection schedules will return to normal beginning Monday of the next week.

There are approximately 25,000 residents living in the Township
of Spring. Every year in October the Township updates the Census
Information. Someone may telephone you or come door to verify the
accuracy of information on file. All employees and census takers
will have ID.
