Sergeant Bill P. Van Etten is a veteran of the US Army and served with the 6/68 ARMOR as a tank crewmember and tank commander. He began his Law Enforcement career in 1988 after graduating from Alvernia College with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice System Administration. He also attended St. Joseph’s University for his Master’s Degree studies and has completed Advanced Police Executive Courses through Penn State University. Sergeant Van Etten is certified through the Federal and State Departments of Transportation to conduct commercial motor vehicle inspections. He is also trained with extensive courses in vehicle crash investigation and reconstruction. He has also been certified as an Emergency Medical Technician.
He was promoted to Corporal in 2003, and to Sergeant in 2005. He has held positions in the Patrol Division and was previously assigned as a Patrol Supervisor. In 2009, Sgt. Van Etten was tasked with developing and implementing plans to establish a Traffic Safety Unit. In 2011, he developed and established the Specialized Services Unit, which incorporate the Traffic Safety Unit and the Canine Unit. Sgt. Van Etten is also responsible for grant administration for all Emergency Services. |
