TRASH COLLECTION

Please refer to the attached Trash and Recycling Schedule for current schedule.
2008 Trash and Recycling Schedule

A total of FOUR CONTAINERS (bags or cans) may be placed for the weekly collection.  Each container shall not exceed 32-gallon capacity nor weigh more than 40 lbs. All loose items must be bundled not to exceed 18 inches by 18 inches by 36 inches.

In addition, ONE BULK ITEM may be placed out for collection each trash collection day.  There will be NO SPRING AND FALL CLEAN UP.  Each trash collection day you will be allowed one bulk item, i.e. mattress, furniture, television.  The following items will not be picked up as a bulk item:  NO APPLIANCES – including but not limited to: refrigerators, stoves, heaters, dehumidifiers, air-conditioners, hot water heaters, propane tanks, batteries, paint cans automobile motors or transmissions.   Lawn mowers may NOT have gasoline in them.

BULK CLEAN UP FOR LIMBS AND BRANCHES – Absolutely No Grass
Limbs and branches will be collected door to door on Monday, May 1, 2006 and Monday, October 2, 2006.  Limbs and branches must be tied and properly bundled – maximum size 48” x 18” x 18”.  No roots from trees/shrubbery.  Trimmings shall be  tied, placed in an open container or paper lawn and leaf bag.  ABSOLUTELY NO TRIMMINGS IN PLASTIC BAGS AND NO GRASS WILL BE COLLECTED.   


ATTENTION ALL SPRING TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS

The Annual Census of the Township of Spring will be conducted during the months of October and November. The Census Enumerators will be updating the Townships’ Records. They may be contacting you either by visiting your home or calling you on the telephone. This information is confidential and does not get sold to any telemarketers or mailing lists. We appreciate your cooperation when this person contacts you

  1. RECYCLING – will be $40.00 per year ($1.54 per pick-up).  Property owners with multiple apartments on a single tax parcel will be billed at $40.00 per dwelling unit whether occupied or vacant. 

FORMER WEST LAWN BOROUGH RESIDENTS SHOULD CALL THE TOWNSHIP OFFICE AT 610-678-5393 TO VERIFY CENSUS DATA.

West Nile Virus 

The Berks County Conservation District advises all residents to remove standing water from "man-made" areas on their property, including tires, where mosquitoes are prone to breed. Note that if dead birds are found on private property or in the neighborhood, Township of Spring residents are advised to call the Pennsylvania Department of Health for reporting and handling instructions. A local contact for that agency is 610-378-4352.
