WASTE WATER
TREATMENT PLANT

Sewer Backups

You come home and detect a horrible odor coming from your basement.  You go down the steps and notice raw sewage backing up into your home.  You rush to your phone book, look for a sewer cleaning service and call them to come out and clean your line.

You’ve immediately done the wrong thing!

If a sanitary sewer backup occurs, notify the Township of Spring FIRST before calling a plumber or sewer cleaning service.  Township employees will check the sewer main and the sewer lateral from the sewer main to the trap located at your property line.  There is no cost to you for the Township to perform this service.
If a backup occurs during business hours (Monday - Friday - 7:00 am to 3:30 pm) call the Spring Township Wastewater Treatment Plant (610) 678-4448 giving your name, address, phone number and nature of the problem and a staff member will respond to your complaint.
If a backup occurs after hours call the Spring Township Police Department at (610) 678-3431 giving the same information.  The Police Department will contact one of our employees who are on call.  The Township responds to backups 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
It is amazing how many residents feel they have a problem… but “wait”….  I cannot tell you how many residents have told us “My drains have been going down slowly for some time” or “When it rains I get backups in my basement” or “I notice sewer odors in my basement”...  If you experience anything which you consider to be “out of the ordinary”, please call us and we’d be happy to look at your system.  It is much better for all concerned to be able to handle situations when they are not emergencies.
If you have any other questions about your wastewater system please feel free to call the Wastewater Plant and we’d be happy to answer your questions
