State Hill-Berkshire Underground Transmission Line Project

PPL Electric Utilities plans to build a new underground transmission line – primarily in the public road right of way – in Spring Township.

This line is needed to support reliable electric service in the area and we are committed to continued reliability improvements here and across our service territory. Without the new line, thousands of customers in the region could potentially face long outages in the event of a problem on the transmission grid.

There is one change to note in the southern part of the planned line route. The line will be built under Howard Street, starting at Grandview Boulevard, heading south.

We had previously scheduled a public open house on this project, which was postponed due to the winter storm. The open house has been rescheduled for 6-8 p.m. on April 10 at the Inn at Reading. Links are provided with a fact sheet with more details.

There is no formal agenda, so please feel free to arrive any time within that time frame.

We look forward to speaking with you and to completing this work to improve reliability in the region.
