Recreation Program COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan

Updated 4-15-21

To protect the health and safety of our program participants, staff and instructors, the following guidelines have been developed and will be implemented in all Department programs:

  1. Department staff, instructors and participants will wear a face mask or covering.
  2. Department staff will perform a self-screen before arriving at the program site. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher will be sent home.
  3. Participant limits as established by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the PA Department of Health will be followed and enforced.
  4. Social distancing will be accommodated and enforced.
  5. Disposable masks, hand sanitizer and gloves will be available for all participants, staff and instructors.
  6. Hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette will be encouraged through signage and verbal reminders.
  7. Equipment will be sanitized prior to the start of the program/session and at the end of the program/session by Department staff.
  8. The sharing of equipment and supplies will be discouraged. If sharing is unavoidable, the equipment and supplies will be sanitized by Department staff between users.
  9. Participant supplies will be pre-packaged and sealed in plastic bags and labeled with the participant’s name. Participants will take everything in their bag and anything they create during the program home with them at the end of the day.
  10. Program participants will be required to “check-in” with Department staff upon arrival at the program site.
    1. Program participants will be “screened” by Department Staff:
      i. “No-Touch” temperatures will be taken by Department staff and anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher will be sent home.
ii. A “COVID-19 Active Screening Questionnaire” will be completed by each participant or parent/legal guardian of participants under the age of 18.
    2. For Youth Programs where only the child is participating, parents are not permitted to exit their car or come into the program area. Department staff will escort the children to and from the “drop off area”.
  11. Participants will be encouraged to stay home if they are not feeling well. The Department will refund registration fees for those who miss a program/session due to illness.
  12. Any staff, instructor or participant exhibiting or reporting COVID symptoms will be sent home to contact their physician and cannot return without written permission from said physician.
