Sewer Billing Notice

  • ACH FORMS – If you would like to have your payment automatically withdrawn from a savings or checking account please download ACH form, complete and sign the form (ACH Form) and return the completed form and a voided check to the Township of Spring Business Office at 2850 Windmill Road, Reading, PA  19608.
  • The following payment options are available at this time:
  • Cash, credit/debit card payments (3% fee for all credit/debit card transactions)
  • Check or money order mailed to the Township’s lockbox location at the following address:  PO Box 4548, Lancaster, PA  17604
  • Pay automatically by ACH – complete and return the downloadable form (ACH Form)
  • If you have purchased Sewer Line Insurance from PA American Water Company (PAWC) please be advised that the Township of Spring has never offered or authorized this insurance and we will not be offering it at this time.  If you are currently paying this fee to PAWC and would like to discontinue enrollment, contact them directly to have it removed from your PAWC bill.  The telephone number for PAWC of 800-565-7292.  This relationship is between you, the customer, and PA American Water Company.  The Township does not have anything to do with this insurance.

Sewer Billing Breakdown

Sewer Billing – sewer bills are based off of water consumption and we back bill by 30 days.  The base amount charge, up to 2500 gallons of water consumption, is $32.64.  For every additional 100 gallons of water used, the cost is approximately $ .91.

Example:

  • 4000 gallons of water used
  • $32.64 (first 2500 gallons)
  • $13.58 (additional 1500 x $.009056)
  • $46.22 total sewer bill

If you find that your sewer bill is higher than normal, remember that it is based off your previous month’s water bill.  Did you have a water leak?  A toilet running?  Watering flowers/vegetables?  If you are unsure why you have an increase, please contact your water company to have your meter checked.  If your water company issues you a credit, due to a malfunctioning meter or for another reason, we will match that credit per gallon.   We do not offer discounts/credits for filling of pools.  If you live in Lincoln Park – your water company is the Borough of Shillington (610) 777-1338.  All other locations in the township with public water is serviced by PA American Water (800) 565-7292.

Sewer FAQ

The first step is to contact a plumber.  The plumber needs to determine where the clog is located.  Any issue from the curb back to inside the home is the homeowner’s responsibility.  If the plumber determines that the issue is at the main (in the street), please call (610) 678-5393 or (610) 678-4448 and provide the following information:  Plumbers name/company & phone #. Our sewer department will contact the plumber for more information to help rectify the issue.
