Where To Take a Walk, This Fall

The fall is a wonderful time to take a walk – the air is cooler and Mother Nature puts on a fabulous show of color with the ever-changing fall foliage. All of the parks are open for your use and are a great place to take a nature break but these three parks have designated trail systems of various lengths and difficulty. Check out the information below and follow this link for downloadable maps of these trails.

1049 Reedy Road, Sinking Spring: This “out and back” trail has a paved surface, has a slight incline in two locations, is 50% shaded and part of the trail travels along the Cacoosing Creek. The trail is .36-miles from the Reedy Road Parking Lot to the State Hill Road Parking Lot. Pets are not permitted in this park. Creek side benches and a pavilion are available at this location. Until November 1st, a portable toilet is available in the Reedy Road Parking Lot.

2111A Wellington Boulevard, Wyomissing: This .5-miles loop trail has a paved surface, is relatively flat, has some shaded areas and meanders around the edge of Drexelwood Park. On-street parking and trail access is available on Wellington Boulevard. There is a small pavilion and play equipment for ages 2 through 12 available at this location. Pets are not permitted in this park. This is a great trail for strollers but there are no restroom facilities available at this site.

303 Sage Drive, Sinking Spring: Please be aware that dogs are permitted on the trails but they must be “on-leash” and owners are expected to clean up after their pets. Until November 1st, a portable toilet is available near the entrance of the Park. Please note that the weather conditions at Shiloh Hills Park are usually cooler and windier than in other parts of the Township, so please dress accordingly. The entire trail system at Shiloh Hills Park is approximately 3.5-miles and is divided into three (3) segments.

  • Multi-Purpose Field Trail – This section is paved, flat and completely exposed to the sun and wind. The trail borders the Multi-Purpose Field and is easily accessible from the main entrance drive of the Park. This loop is approximately .5-miles in length.
  • Meadow Trail – This trail section is a combination of paved asphalt and crushed stone/screenings. The trail follows the edge of the parking lot and then loops down around the retention pond. The sections around the parking lot are level, however, there are some steep grades as you descend down, around and back-up from the retention pond. After a heavy rainfall, please be aware that some sections may be washed out in this area. This loop is approximately .45-miles in length.
  • Environmental Trail – From the parking lot to the Environmental Center, this trail is paved, partially shaded and has a significant, steady incline. Past the Center, the trail has a crushed stone surface, is shaded and has steep inclines and declines with switchback turns. After a heavy rainfall, please be aware that some sections may be washed out in this area.
